About

Who we are

Inglorious Ruckers establishes and builds community for Veterans and civilians through rucks, and raises awareness for important issues in New Jersey. We are a family oriented group. All are welcome including kids, parents, neighbors, and furry family members.

What is Rucking?

Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training. Green Berets are well versed in shouldering heavy rucks through cities, mountains, jungles and deserts, in war and in peace — alone when they must, together whenever possible. Rucking requires strength, endurance, and character — and builds it, too.

Board members, left to right: Franco Marandola (Secretary), Corey Pribush (Treasurer), Mary Ruiz (President), Rob Auguste (Trustee – Veterans Relations), David Rosen (Vice President)

Note: Hiking is rucking in the mountains, (sub)urban hiking is simply called rucking. Rucking can be done at any weight.

Rucking is a perfect way to simultaneously build strength and aerobic capacity. The best part is, everyone can do it. Whether you’re just looking for a way to start getting in shape or want to add something new to your training program, rucking is for you.

What other activity allows you to work out as a group, at the same pace, be social and still get a good workout in? Weight is the great equalizer, because of that, athletes of many different levels can ruck together. In rucking, you can have someone with 10lbs and someone else with 45lbs and they can walk at the same pace while talking and the ruck can still be challenging.

Rucking is a great way to build the community within your group as well. When you go for a ruck, everyone is on the same route at the same pace. Throw in some PT if you want, but do it together. Just like at our events, you are only as strong as your weakest person.
